Jason Danford

Artist’s Statement

I do not pigeon-hole myself into one specific genre of photography. I have experimented with just about all of them out there. I gravitate towards street and urban architecture photography. Since I have spent time in Costa Rica and now in Colorado, I have also been working with some landscape and nature photos. I always shoot for black and white, unless there is something really special about the colors of a scene. I believe black and white photography are a more “purist” style of photography and that is what appeals to me the most. I also shoot photos that I like and that interest me. I do not shoot for the masses.

About the Artist

I am a retired Firefighter/Paramedic from the Midwest. After a stint of living in Costa Rica, I moved back to the U.S. and came out to Colorado. I have visited this beautiful state numerous times, and with having some family here, I decided to make it my home.

I discovered my passion for photography started while in high school when I took a photography class. This was way before digital photography hit the scene. I immediately fell in love with taking pictures, developing the film and making prints in an actual dark room. I have since moved into the digital world (still love film though) and continue on with my passion some 30 years later.
